Last week, I was busy getting my kids to bed when I noticed a glow outside. Ran upstairs to grab my camera, stepped out my second floor office door, and made this image. I was almost too late, and only managed to click off 12 frames. I am not sure what I had missed, but I am pleased with this photograph! I am reminded of some of Eliot Porter’s sunset cloud photos. See the link below. I often prefer the later stages of sunset, with darker colors and a more moody quality. Still, it is better to catch the whole show to have more choices!
Sunset Clouds, New Mexico by Eliot Porter
Enjoy! Let me know your thoughts…

I love it. It reminds me that less is more. That I need to enbrace the simple beauty of the sky, as it is, naturally. I love your blogs. So insightful. Thank you for them.

Thanks, Stacey. I’ve photographed several since, but not with as good color or “structure” to the clouds.

Nice Bill. Reminds me of one of the many sunsets I see off my front porch each year. Every couple of these, I have to get out the camera and capture new images. The shows usually go on for quite a while. Not one is ever alike.

Very nice, Bill.. Like your NEW Blog/Website also… Thx John 😉
Love when the images come to our homes like that…
and we take the time to answer the Call…
I once made a similar image but I still need to scan the transparency
as I only have the Cibachrome I made of it..
I called it “the Scorpio Sunset.” cuz of all the intensity & passion it contained.
Would like to do a Series of the Many Moods of Clouds…
I have a link to your .me blog on my blog…
Do I need to change the url to this one?
Please advise….OK?
