Lewis Kemper and I have been close friends since 1979. He just came out with a new book that you all should check out. This is a beautiful collection by an excellent photographer! Here is some info about the book from Lewis.<\/p>\n

The book is 80 pages and contains 68 images, plus 4 pages with technical information on each image. \u00a0The images are interlaced with thoughtful quotes about Light. \u00a0The images have all been taken in the last 4 years in his travels from Hawaii to Iceland! \u00a0 This beautiful mo link nograph is available in several formats. \u00a0From the Deluxe Edition, bundled with a fine print, to a smaller paperbound version. \u00a0To see the four formats and to get to see larger previews of several of the spreads in the book just click on this link<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Capturing the Light book by Lewis Kemper<\/a><\/p>\n

Seeing Lewis\u2019s lava image on the book cover reminds of my visit there in 1994, so I\u2019ve included my favorite image. \nThe thrill of witnessing the raw beauty of creation
\ncomes back to me every time I view my images
\nfrom Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Waves
\nreceded down the steep beach, then returned to
\nengulf the flowing lava. Standing on a small shelf
\nof hardened lava, I could feel the earth rumble
\nunderneath me. A strong offshore wind forced me
\nto use a 35mm camera instead of my preferred 4×5
\nformat. I used a moderate shutter speed of about a
\nquarter second to convey the dynamic motion of
\nthis spectacle.<\/p>\n
