{"id":434,"date":"2009-11-30T19:27:31","date_gmt":"2009-12-01T01:27:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.williamneill.com\/blog\/?p=434"},"modified":"2009-12-01T13:01:52","modified_gmt":"2009-12-01T19:01:52","slug":"learning-loop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.williamneill.com\/index.php\/2009\/11\/learning-loop\/","title":{"rendered":"Learning Loop&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I first started my Impressions of Light series because I was inspired by some of my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.betterphoto.com\/courseOverview.asp?cspID=128\">BetterPhoto.com<\/a> students.\u00a0 I began my making single frame exposures with camera motion.\u00a0 That was many years ago.\u00a0 This fall, I am teaching a very talented group of students, and several are using Multiple Exposure techniques with excellent results.\u00a0 So I had to see what I could do.\u00a0 Never really liked the more &#8220;nervous&#8221; look of most ME imagery, but I had to push myself to experiment.<\/p>\n<p>Here is my first attempt.\u00a0 These trees are right across the street from my house but this was the first time I&#8217;ve photographed them.\u00a0 Good color this fall.\u00a0 I used nine exposures blended in Photoshop in very unformulated and random capacities on each layer.\u00a0 Just tried to make it look good.\u00a0 Later, I learned that there was a &#8220;proper&#8221; formula but I didn&#8217;t like the results as much.<\/p>\n<p>I liked the results, but still wasn&#8217;t sure that the image was finished.\u00a0 Then, one of my current BetterPhoto students reminded me of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.naturephotographers.net\/articles0106\/dw0106-1.html\">Orton Technique<\/a>.\u00a0 This version uses this technique, which I feel &#8220;completes&#8221; the image.\u00a0 Dark and moody tones reflect the emotion of the rainy day scene to me, but the blur softens the overall mood and the edginess of the ME technique.<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy,\u00a0\u00a0 Bill<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.williamneill.com\/store\/books\/impressions-of-light-hardbound.html\">Impressions of Light &#8211;
