{"id":3011,"date":"2012-04-26T15:39:47","date_gmt":"2012-04-26T22:39:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.williamneill.com\/blog\/?p=3011"},"modified":"2012-05-07T16:51:45","modified_gmt":"2012-05-07T23:51:45","slug":"3011","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.williamneill.com\/index.php\/2012\/04\/3011\/","title":{"rendered":"Redbud, Merced River Canyon, 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_3013\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3013\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3013\" title=\"201204_1631-Edit\" src=\"http:\/\/www.williamneill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/201204_1631-Edit1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamneill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/201204_1631-Edit1.jpg 400w, https:\/\/blog.williamneill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/201204_1631-Edit1-333x500.jpg 333w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-3013\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III__EF70-200mm f\/2.8L USM__1.5 sec at f \/ 22__ISO 100<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As with my previous post, this photograph was made last Sunday on my Earth Day return to nearby Merced River Canyon, my home for 20 years. \u00a0I love the change of seasons there, but the spring season is my favorite. \u00a0Many seasons, the flowers start blooming in February, and finally all turns brown in May. \u00a0Besides the flowers, the river is\u00a0exhilarating\u00a0in its moods, especially during the high waters of spring. \u00a0In my El Portal home, I could see the river from my living room only in the height of the spring runoff. \u00a0Its rumbling sound was very loud, and soothing, at night.<\/p>\n<p>I had never photographed this tree before, but noticed these branches on Sunday while zooming past on the road. \u00a0The sun was too harsh at the time to stop, but I made note of it for later. \u00a0A few hours later, we returned as the sun was about to go down. \u00a0I worked with this composition for about one hour, taking many variations. \u00a0There was about 10-15 minutes when the light became warm as it passed behind a cloud on the horizon. \u00a0I positioned myself for good spacing of the branches, and so the glow in the sky reflected off the water. \u00a0I tried several shutter speeds in order to ge the best sharpness in the branches and sense of motion in the river.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve made many images in the Merced River Canyon over the years, and one of my favs was of a special tree overhanging the river. \u00a0Below is my favorite redbud image from the MRC. \u00a0This tree is now gone, damaged by the 1997 flood and subsequent road repair.<\/p>\n<p>I love my new Redbud image. \u00a0Which do you prefer?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3020\" style=\"width: 460px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3020\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3020\" title=\"Redbud_and_Merced_River_lg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.williamneill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Redbud_and_Merced_River_lg.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"351\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-3020\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Redbud and Merced River, Merced River Canyon, California 1989<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
